HISTORY ;;

As the youngest of House Temair’s sonless family, Phillipa was always her mother’s special girl. She was clever, polite, and adorably charming, and Lady Sandrina loved her for it, always paying special attention to her youngest daughter. While Lord Martin disliked the attention, saying that Philippa would grow up spoiled, Sandrina always insisted she would do no such thing, and persisted to lavish attention on thier little girl.

Lord Martin had an infuriating habit of turning out right.

Philippa did, indeed, become spoiled by Sandrina, and developped a bit of a superiority complex over her two sisters – flanked by an inferiourity complex was that just as strong. Of course, she was Mother’s favourite, but how was it fair that Tessa could be so lovely and gracious, and Eli had Father’s favour and would be inheriting all the power of Temair except for in the unlikely event that they had a younger brother. She was better then them, clearly, why else would Mother favour her so ... but why were they better than her? It wasn’t fair. And poor Therese, never seen for anything more than her beauty. Poor Eliza, forced under all of that weight, if Father put pressure on her, how much more must Eliza be facing? She came to love her sisters, hate her sisters, pity them, resent them, cry for them, and laugh at their misfortunes.

And she became cunning. And she became ruthless.

Philippa couldn’t stand her father, and never mourned when he died, except for tears shed to keep up appearances, but Sandrina’s descent into madness was the greatest trial she’s ever faced. Her mother had meant to world to her, and this was in many ways more difficult than her being dead.

And it changed something inside of her, and the seeds of paranoia Martin had sowed that had never taken root before, finally began to sprout in her heart. Philippa knew that she was smart, clever, ingenious, really, but what would that all mean, were she to go the way Sandrina had? She didn’t have Tessa’s beauty, she could never hope to command the respect that Eliza did. Without her mind, she would be nothing, and all would look at her in pity. “When Lady Philippa was young, she was smart as a whip, but now ...”

She swore no one would ever look down at her with pity that way. In fact, no one would ever look at her with anything but respect and awe.

That was when she began to plot to bring Eliza down.

After all, it wasn’t fair for her to be under all of this pressure. Philippa could never let the sister she loved so dearly bear that.

PERSONALITY ;;

Vivacious, clever, and possessing a sort of charming, sweet wickedness, Philippa is a woman who immediately engages everyone who speaks to her. She’s a master of conversation, knowing exactly when to laugh, when to be quiet, when to speak, when to interrupt, when to smile, when to nod. She knows how to win everyone to her side of an argument with her charms with the ease of breathing.

Philippa is ruthless, cunning, hateful, and very ambitious, but she is also extremely emotional, and is never entirely sure what exactly she thinks and anything. While she comes up with a great many shockingly malicious and dangerous schemes, her emotions tend to run away with her, making it hard to pull the trigger on any of these, and her complicated and quickly changing opinions and viewpoints often have her sabotaging her own plans.

She is very good at subtle insults and thinly veiled mocking, but does so in such a way that only she and someone who knows her extremely well would know that she’s being anything but charming and friendly, as she keeps her features schooled and her voice innocent.

While Philippa doesn’t like children – at all, really, she can’t stand people she can’t have a conversation with, and she’s been known to snap when someone calls children’s ignorance “sweet” or “enviable”, demanding what’s so wonderful about stupidity – while surprisingly very, very fond of her nephew Ethan. This is partially because she hopes she can make him love her and use him against her sisters, but a great deal is her actually loving the boy.

She’s jealous of her sisters, she pities her sisters, she loves her sisters, she wants her sisters to go away forever so that she can finally be recognized as the best of them.

APPEARANCE ;;

Philippa has long, blue-black hair. She has grey eyes and is quite tall for a woman, slim enough to be just attractively shy of skinny. While never hailed a beauty like Therese, and not possessing quite that same mature, classical prettiness Eliza does, Philippa is very attractive, which is helped by the fact that she's expert at a coyness that stops just short of being alluring.

Despite her good looks, she resents her appearance. She's her father's daughter, through and through, and she wishes deeply that she looked more like her mother. Her grey eyes are her favourite feature for this reason.
